DENVER, Colo. – Canary is one of twenty U.S. companies participating in an Energy Business Development trade mission to Nigeria and Ghana, for a series of energy-related business meetings with the Nigerian government from Sunday, May 18 through Friday, May 23, 2014. Dan Eberhart, Chief Executive Officer of Canary, LLC, is joining other energy company representatives and officials from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce and other federal agencies including GE, HPI, SEWW Energy, Inc. and Unified Electrics, LLC.
“This is an incredible opportunity for Canary and other energy leaders to foster relationships in Africa and build on the potential opportunities for U.S. companies in the energy sector,” said Dan Eberhart, Chief Executive Officer for Canary. “Early investment is critical for growth and future opportunities and I look forward to being a part of building the foundation of these partnerships.”
The Energy Business Development Mission to Ghana and Nigeria is headed by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. The trade mission will help promote U.S. exports to Africa.
“The fast-growing economies in Africa are a high priority for the Obama Administration and the Department of Commerce,” said Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. “There is tremendous potential for U.S. companies to sell their goods and services in countries like Ghana and Nigeria, which have energy needs that our firms have the goods, services, and expertise to address. Expanding trade and investment is a critical tool for economic growth and job creation in the U.S., and trade missions like this one are one way to help grow U.S. exports.”
More than two-thirds of the sub-Saharan Africa population is without electricity, including more than 85 percent of those living in rural areas. According to the International Energy Agency, sub-Saharan Africa needs more than $300 billion in investments to achieve universal electricity access by 2030.
