WATFORD CITY – A Watford City oilfield service company has acquired one of its brethren companies, forming one of the largest companies of its kind in North Dakota.
Frontier Energy Group Inc., the parent company of Frontier Wellhead and Supply LLC, announced last week the acquisition of Hanson Hot Oil Service, which at the time was the largest hot oil company in the Williston Basin.
With the acquisition, the company now known as Frontier Hot Oil becomes one of the largest privately owned oilfield service companies in the state.
“We are delighted to announce the successful completion of this acquisition,” said Dan Eberhart, CEO of Frontier Energy, in the release. “With great people and a commitment to superior services, Frontier Energy Group Inc. is well positioned for a bright future in the Williston Basin and beyond.”
“My 32 years in the hot oil trade has been wonderful,” said Owen Hanson, Hanson Hot Oil’s founder, of the company he started with a single truck in 1984. “I’ve had the opportunity to build a strong company and see many of my customers’ children grow up.
“Now, I’m excited about the opportunities joining Frontier will create for our customers.”
“This acquisition brings together two strong companies and positions us to succeed in the fast-growing, dynamic and highly competitive Williston Basin oilfield,” Eberhart said. “This sets us on a path to create a full-featured service company from a position of strength.”
Hanson will remain with Frontier during the transitional period, serving as Frontier Hot Oil’s operations manager.
“Our outstanding team is one of the most important assets of Frontier,” Eberhart said. “We will be working together to provide our co-workers with the right culture, tools and incentives to do their jobs well and to make them proud to work for the new Frontier Hot Oil.”
Frontier’s operational headquarters are stationed in Watford City. Together with Kodiak Stack Testing LLC in Williston and Colorado-based Cable LLC, these companies provide a wide array of equipment and services to more than 500 customers through 14 locations across North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska.
