CRYSTAL CITY, TX – Canary, LLC is pleased to announce the acquisition of Tri-Star Wellhead, founded in October 2006, is a full-service wellhead supply and service center located in Crystal City, Texas. This will continue to cement Canary as America’s largest independent wellhead company. This will be the first Texas location for the rapidly expanding company, and Canary CEO Dan Eberhart says that Tri-Star’s location makes it an especially exciting addition.
“Tri-Star is located in the heart of the Eagle Ford formation,” says Eberhart, who notes that Tri-Star has a strong local presence in Crystal City, Texas. “Tri-Star has provided high-quality wellhead supplies and services to local oilfield companies in the area for close to seven years – but due to their size, they were unable to expand beyond their current service capabilities.”
For many oil and gas companies operating in the Eagle Ford formation, getting the right wellhead components has been a challenge. Although there are a handful of small, independent wellhead supply companies operating in the area, larger competitors are typically located farther away and closer to major cities such as San Antonio or Houston.
“Tri-Star’s location was very attractive to us,” Eberhart says. “Crystal City is, literally, on top of the Eagle Ford – you couldn’t ask for a more convenient location. That’s going to be extremely useful for our clients.”
Another factor that made Tri-Star attractive is the fact that the company already has a 10,000 square-foot facility. This factory, something of a rarity in the area, will provide a strong foundation for Canary’s planned expansion of services in Texas.
“This facility is ready to grow,” says Eberhart, who adds that Canary’s expansion will bring jobs to the area. “And we’ll be expanding our staff, too – we’re hoping that we can attract some great talent in the area – Canary has a great reputation and we offer excellent benefits.”
Currently, Tri-Star provides a full range of wellhead services and supplies, including wellhead systems, gate valves, frac well valves, wellhead installation, and valve repair. Eberhart says the location will continue to provide these services, but on a larger scale. As a part of Canary, Tri-Star will have access to Canary’s manufacturing & fabrication shops, in nearby Oklahoma & Colorado.
The acquisition of Tri-Star is the latest in what has shaped up to be a busy year for Canary. In January of 2013, the company – which was formerly known as Frontier Energy Group, LLC – acquired Oklahoma City-based Canary Wellhead while opening up a new frac heating service line in ND’s Bakken.
